Honor the tradition but expand the understanding. That's what religions must do right now if they hope to be helpful to humans in the years ahead.

Neale Donald Walsch
Tomorrow's God

One of the things I was taught is that the religion of the future will be ceremonial.. The reason being is that as we loose our identity by becoming more and more of the taker culture, we crave and cling to ceremony. Not the ceremony that comes from every child gets a blue ribbon at a foot race, but the ceremony that comes from those rites of passage i.e. birth, death, crossing into adulthood. At some point I think the world will turn more towards the “leavers” identity. They will teach their children how to live, and stop teaching the children how to be more productive.

If you ever get the chance read "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn, if you really want to hurt your head read "God is Red" by Vine Deloria at the same time..

My teacher called her students the Grand Experiment.. She caused us to challenge ourselves and our basic belief systems every day.. Made us look, really LOOK at where they come from..then ask us "So WHY do you do that" "Can you make that belief MAKE SENSE if you take away where it came from?" She would ask us to do things so beyond our comfort zone..  how would you like to be told to go dance your power animal in front of like 50 people you did not know?? (ok some of you would not care but that one was hard for me)
In making us do things above and beyond what our unknown, faith based, cause someone told me that is the way things are done, I don't know Because.. reasoning little minds told us to..
In making.. making is not a good word.. In giving us the opportunity to get out of our own hand made walls..by creating a safe place to play we got to learn real courage.. compassion, grace, and love. Here's to throwing off our sheep skins and letting it rock...
I hope you all vote.. I hope you all feel loved.. I hope you all do a little power animal step... and smile.
Writing on this "blog" is my grand experiment.   I am challenged to put the words down that I have had wandering in my mind for a long time, and see how they are heard and received.  Not by people who know, love and understand me, but to any one who happens by.  It is also my way of trying to make sense of what I have been taught or exposed to.

"Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to continually be part of unanimity."-- Gotthold Ephraim Lessing

May we each live authentically, in accordance with Your guidance. Help us to notice what is true and important, and release everything else.Thank You for the ability to focus on what is important!

Reverence the highest, have patience with the lowest. Let this day's performance of the meanest duty be thy religion. Are the stars too distant, pick up the pebble that lies at thy feet, and from it learn the all.

- Margaret Fuller

When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one
individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very
often, that individual is crazy.
